Founding Frontend Engineer | Onsite San Francisco | High-Impact Startup Environment

Berkley Hunt is working with a stealth-mode client to help them hire a Founding Frontend Engineer. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the frontend architecture of a brand-new product, working closely with the founding team across design, product, and backend. You’ll own key technical decisions, ship features rapidly, and help establish a frontend culture built for speed, quality, and scale.

Role Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of core frontend architecture for new products from the ground up.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate on features to validate product ideas and improve user experience.
• Establish and uphold best practices for code quality, performance, testing, and maintainability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product, and backend to deliver a seamless UX.
• Make critical technical and product decisions as part of the founding engineering team.

Requirements:

• Proven experience shipping applications with real-world traffic or high user counts.
• Experience leading frontend technical initiatives and delivering performant web or desktop apps.
• Strong command of modern frontend tooling (TypeScript, CI/CD pipelines, etc.).
• Deep expertise in optimizing complex user interactions across platforms.
• Passion for fast, accessible, and delightful UI/UX.
• Comfortable in fast-moving startup environments, ownership, adaptability, and execution are key.
