Job Description

G2 Consulting Group is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our expanding Chicagoland office. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer who not only enjoys solving technical geotechnical challenges but also thrives on building client relationships and supporting business growth.

This role combines hands-on project engineering with client engagement and business development activities. Ideal candidates will have a solid background in geotechnical engineering along with strong interpersonal skills to represent the firm in a professional and growth-oriented manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical analyses and develop practical, constructible engineering solutions.
  • Lead and manage field investigations, including coordination of drilling, sampling, and construction observation.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, calculations, and geotechnical recommendations.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional service and maintaining long-term relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Participate in and contribute to business development initiatives:
  • Identify new project opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Attend industry and networking events to promote G2's capabilities.
  • Assist with proposal development, presentations, and pre-qualifications.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical oversight as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in geo-sciences; Master’s degree preferred.
  • P.E. licensure.
  • 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally with client-facing responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of experience in client relationship management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply geotechnical data to real-world challenges.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Interest or experience in client development, proposal writing, and project pursuit activities is a plus.
