Job Description
A Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher works with students who have significant cognitive, physical, or emotional disabilities. They provide specialized instruction, assist with life skills development, and implement behavioral interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized learning plans for students with complex needs
- Adapt curriculum to support functional academics and life skills
- Utilize assistive technology and specialized teaching methods
- Collaborate with therapists, aides, and families to support student development
- Monitor progress and adjust strategies to maximize student success
- Provide behavioral support and crisis intervention when necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education
- Valid teaching credential with Moderate/Severe Special Education endorsement
- Experience working with students with significant disabilities
- Ability to implement behavioral and instructional strategies effectively
