We’re representing a growing, family-owned OEM in the industrial equipment space that is looking to add a Service Technician to their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who enjoys troubleshooting, traveling, and customer-facing work. The company has been around for decades and is known for its close-knit culture, open-door leadership, and commitment to employee development.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to get out in the field, work hands-on with custom industrial systems, and continue building their technical skillset through structured training and mentorship.
What You’ll Do
- Travel to customer sites (70–80% travel, mostly domestic) for installation, startup, commissioning, and service of industrial systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on custom equipment including fans, blowers, burners, valves, and controls.
- Perform preventative maintenance, annual checks, and field upgrades.
- Collaborate with engineering and service leadership to ensure customer needs are met.
- Deliver technical support and training to end-users, building strong relationships with customers.
- When not traveling, work out of the Lake Zurich headquarters (after 1 year, 20–30% remote flexibility).
Why This Role?
- Training & Development: Structured 3/6/9/12-month training plan with milestones, shadowing, and increasing responsibility. By year one, you’ll be independently handling startups and service projects.
- Growth: Leadership has a proven track record of promoting from within—several current managers started in this role.
- Culture: A smaller, family-owned company where you’re known by name, not a number , and leadership is approachable and supportive.
- Travel Variety: Mix of local trips, U.S. travel, and occasional international projects.
- Tools & Support: Company provides laptop, phone, tools, and credit card for expenses.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–5+ years of service, maintenance, or field tech experience (open to entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude).
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, fans, blowers, actuators, or valves.
- Basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting (24–480V). PLC experience is a plus but not required.
- Customer-facing skills—comfortable explaining technical issues and solutions to clients.
- Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to travel frequently.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with industrial HVAC, combustion systems (burners, boilers, ovens), or oxidizers.
Compensation & Details
- Salary Range: $50K–$60K DOE (with potential for higher if oxidizer/PLC experience is present).
- Schedule: Full-time with travel (domestic and some international).
- Employment Type: Direct hire.
- Location: Based in Lake Zurich, IL (company HQ).
- Travel: 70–80% (mix of local and national travel, occasional international).
- Perks: Expense reimbursement, per diem for meals, and long-term remote flexibility (20–30% after first year).
This is a great fit for mechanically inclined candidates—whether you’re an experienced Service Tech, a Maintenance Technician ready to move into field service, or even someone early in their career looking to learn in a structured, growth-oriented environment.
