The established tech company is building a "skunkworks" team to build new web and mobile platforms, all new engineering, no support or maintenance of legacy systems! Direct Hire FTE role with a small team that works hybrid 2 days a week in Phoenix.

We're seeking a Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer to build a cutting-edge event-based platform, replacing the current one used by millions of users. This greenfield project offers the chance to shape the future of our customers platform with no legacy constraints.

🔹 Role: DevOps/Platform Engineer

🔹 Project: New event-based platform (greenfield)

🔹 Team: 20 person "skunkworks" team

🔹 Location: Hybrid (2 days a week in Phoenix)

What We’re Looking For:

🔹DevOps/Platform Engineer experience

🔹Platform Expertise: Proven experience in building and engineering platforms from scratch.

🔹Automation SME: Mastery of automation tools (Terraform, Python, etc.). You probably have an active github and push a lot of repos

🔹Cloud Mastery: In-depth knowledge of cloud (They're GCP but fine considering AWS folks)

🔹CI/CD Pro: Extensive experience with CI/CD processes.

🔹Collaborative Spirit: Strong ability to partner with development teams.

🔹Dynamic Enthusiast: Background in startups or small/mid-size companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Development : Engineer, develop, and scale our new platform, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.
  • Automation : Implement and optimize automation processes across the entire infrastructure, utilizing tools like Terraform to manage and provision cloud resources.
  • Cloud Expertise : Leverage your deep knowledge of GCP or AWS to build robust, scalable, and secure cloud environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code : Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to ensure consistency and repeatability in environment setups.
  • Performance Engineering : Architect and implement solutions that prioritize high performance and scalability to handle large-scale workloads.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and operations, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.
  • Mentorship : Provide guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Innovation : Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies, incorporating AI tools and other innovations to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Experience and SkillsAutomation SME : Proven expertise in automating infrastructure and deployment processes using Terraform and other similar tools.
  • Programming Proficiency : Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or similar, with a focus on developing robust automation scripts. Looks to automate everything they can!
  • Infrastructure as Code : Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining IaC, ensuring consistency and efficiency in environment setups. Really need to know the ins and outs of Terraform!
  • Performance Optimization : A track record of architecting and implementing high-performance, scalable solutions.
  • Event-Driven Architecture : Experience with event-driven architectures and tools like Kafka or SQS.
  • Database Management : Experience with both SQL (e.g., MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases, including caching solutions like Redis.
  • CI/CD Pipelines : Expertise in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • AI Tool Leveraging : Experience incorporating AI tools to enhance development processes and platform capabilities.
  • Startup or Consumer Application Experience : Background in startup environments or developing consumer applications.
  • Remote Team Collaboration : Proven ability to collaborate effectively with remote development teams.
  • ExpectationsGreenfield Project Enthusiasm : Embrace the challenge of working on a greenfield project, influencing the product's direction and architecture.
