SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The primary responsibility of this Security role is to ensure the safety and security of the property, its occupants, and guests by providing a visible presence, patrolling the premises, escorting guests, and performing security checks. The ideal candidate must possess a valid license to carry a firearm and demonstrate excellent judgment and integrity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor assigned posts, ensuring a visible presence to deter potential security threats.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and report any suspicious activities or security breaches.
  • Regularly walk the perimeter of the property to identify and address potential security risks.
  • Ensure all entry points are secure and report any irregularities.
  • Watch over parking lots to ensure the safety of vehicles and guests.
  • Address any suspicious behavior or unauthorized activities within parking areas.
  • Escort guests to different buildings within the property, ensuring their safety and providing assistance as needed.
  • Provide directions and support to guests, fostering a secure and welcoming environment.
  • Check in guests, verify identification for non-VIP guests, and ensure they have proper authorization to enter the premises. Ensure all employees and guests are wearing/displaying badges while on campus.
  • Maintain accurate records of guest check-ins and report any discrepancies.
  • Unlock buildings and ensure secure access for authorized personnel and guests.
  • Conduct routine checks to confirm that buildings are properly secured after hours.
  • Monitor a closed-circuit television for potential issues.
  • Apprehend or expel persons engaging in improper conduct, suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations by contacting the appropriate local emergency personnel for medical and building emergencies.
  • Cooperate with police and other law enforcement agencies in necessary situations.
  • Provide accurate and detailed information to support investigations and security operations.
  • Prepare and submit detailed incident reports and daily activity logs.
  • Receive, store and log CH merchandise given to Security for pick up. Give said merchandise to authorized person after verifying identity.
  • Communicate effectively with the security team and management about any security concerns or incidents.
  • Serve as a team lead for Contract Security Guards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a valid license to carry a firearm and comply with all state and local regulations.
  • Training in security or law enforcement preferred.
  • California State Guard Card (Required)
  • California State Exposed Firearms Permit (Required)
  • Baton Permit / Pepper Spray Experience / Taser Experience (Preferred)
  • Proven experience as an armed security guard or in a related field.
  • Outstanding personal character, integrity, and professional demeanor
  • Self-Starter with initiative and ability to follow protocol and chain of command
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations and de-escalate disputes and/or conflict(s).
  • Physical fitness to perform patrols and handle potential confrontations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
