RN Director of Quality & Risk
Overview
We seek an experienced RN Director of Quality & Risk to lead quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation programs for a 300-bed acute care hospital in Southern West Virginia . This executive nursing leader oversees Quality/Performance Improvement, Risk Management, and Medical Staff Office operations while serving as the facility’s Patient Safety Officer and Ethics & Compliance Officer.
The Director works closely with senior leadership, medical staff, and clinical teams to advance care excellence, ensure regulatory readiness, and foster a culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Direct the activities and personnel within Quality/Performance Improvement, Risk Management, and the Medical Staff Office.
Serve as the Patient Safety Officer and Ethics & Compliance Officer for the hospital.
Ensure facility-wide regulatory and accreditation compliance, including CMS and The Joint Commission readiness.
Lead quality and performance improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes and clinical excellence.
Oversee and implement the hospital’s Ethics & Compliance Program, ensuring adherence to federal healthcare program requirements.
Conduct independent compliance investigations and ensure appropriate corrective actions.
Promote a culture where colleagues feel safe reporting concerns or potential violations.
Coordinate Core Measures activities and support organizational quality dashboards and reporting.
Partner with senior leadership to advance strategic goals and enhance patient experience.
Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and fiscal performance.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Licensure: Active and unrestricted West Virginia RN license OR a multistate compact RN license (West Virginia participates in the NLC).
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
CPHRM and CPPS certifications required within two years of employment.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of RN acute care experience required.
Previous quality, patient safety, or risk management experience required.
Prior RN leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary range of $111,000 to $150,000 , depending on experience.
Negotiable signing bonus and relocation assistance available for the ideal candidate.
Full-time, exempt role (Monday–Friday business hours).
