Job Description

We are seeking to hire a Registered Nurse to be part of our MnChoices assessment team for residents of southern St. Louis County. Our experienced team consists of dedicated and knowledgeable Registered Nurses as well as Social Workers.

 
In this role you will perform assessments, intervention, and person-centered advocacy within the Public Health and Human Services Department.

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2025. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $30.01 - $42.53 per hour. 

These positions are part of the  Civil Service Basic Unit Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement represented by Council 5 of AFSCME.

An employee in this class is responsible for reviewing client needs as required according to federal and state program eligibility criteria. Duties may include providing comprehensive assessments, educational counseling, and care coordination depending on the program area. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):  

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in nursing. 

• Possession of a current Minnesota Registered Nurse license.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS BY PROGRAM AREA:
Home and Community–based & Public Health Managed Care Programs : 

• Two (2) years full-time paid verifiable experience in a home or community-based setting.
• Possession of MnCHOICES Certified Assessors certification within two (2) months of employment. Failure to obtain the MnCHOICES Certified Assessor certification within two (2) months will result in termination from the position.  

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING ASSESSMENT- (EXPERIENCE & TRAINING RATING - 100% of the scoring process): 
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this assessment. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.

TENTATIVE RECRUITMENT & SCREENING PROCESS SCHEDULE:

• October 1, 2025 - Applicant screening will begin
• Week of October 13, 2025 -  Experience & Training Rating to be completed  
• Week of October 27, 2025 -  Interviews to be conducted

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
Appointees to the position must successfully complete a twelve-month probationary period prior to being certified for permanent employment.
