Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, Operations, the Quality & Safety Manager is responsible for the effective performance of the Quality & Safety function in the manufacturing facility to meet or exceed customer expectations. This is a customer-facing Quality Manager role with with Safety leadership responsibilities in the plant. This position leads both functions (Quality and Safety) in the LifeMade manufacturing facility in Erlanger, KY.

Primary Functions

  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with customers which are based on integrity and trust, including substantial personal visits.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates customer quality requirements and specifications through active participation in projects, manufacturing control plan development, and working with Operations, Sales, Director of Safety, and customer teams to address changes or improvements.
  • Leads overall SQF level II, cGMP, FDA and OSHA guidelines and other applicable responsibilities to ensure procedures and auditing activities are followed per the defined activity.
  • Ensures that all quality & safety procedures are maintained and that all personnel are fully trained on specifications, procedures and inspection equipment.
  • Ensures complete and accurate inspection and certifications data are sent to the customer and OSHA per regulation requirements.
  • Communicates with customers about uncertain specifications or questionable products, obtains, deviations, etc., and advises site staff.
  • Review latest part print revisions from Engineering Project Manager and inputs if revisions require any deviation from normal inspection, documentation or measurement procedures.
  • Assures all non-conforming materials are isolated and in conjunction with Material Review Board.
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations fostering a safe and healthful working environment.
  • Performs routine audits for compliance to procedures, submits reports and action plans on audits

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with appropriate experience or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA regulatory experience to include implementation and auditing.
  • Five years in a quality/safety management position with a demonstrated successful performance level.
  • Five years’ manufacturing experience. Experience with STOP, SQF, BRC, and Lean six sigma a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of QC tools such as SPC, DOE, sampling plans, audits, etc.
  • Experience dealing with customers, auditors, OSHA inspectors, and suppliers.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires up to 4-8hrs of standing/walking daily
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 20lbs
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 20lbs
  • Must be able to bend/stoop/twist, crouch/squat, reach above and below shoulders
  • Requires repetitive use of arms, wrists, and hands
  • Must be able to work near/with machinery and hand tools
  • Ability to wear required PPE including hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety toed shoes
  • Moderate exposure to cold, heat, & noise
