Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is seeking a visionary Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as the founding Psychiatry Residency Program Director for ARH’s first-ever ACGME-accredited residency program. Role Overview

As Psychiatry Residency Program Director, you will:

• Design, launch, and lead a new ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
• Oversee curriculum development, administration, and regulatory compliance.
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate residents and faculty.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, patient-centered care, and academic excellence.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across ARH’s 14-hospital system and its mental health services network.
• Ensure ongoing quality improvement and readiness for accreditation reviews.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN) –  Required .
• At least 3 years of academic, GME, or residency program leadership experience.
• Experience with ACGME accreditation and compliance standards.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Commitment to rural healthcare and medical education innovation.

Preferred Experience

• Previous program director or associate program director experience.
• Background in clinical psychiatry, teaching, and resident supervision.
• Passion for developing future physician leaders in underserved communities.
