Integration and Automation Engineer

Cadre AI is looking for a scrappy Integration and Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team and help us move fast by connecting systems and automating everything. This role is perfect for someone with a hacker mindset who loves to tinker, experiment, and build creative solutions that deliver immediate business value. The ideal candidate gets excited about tools like n8n, Zapier, Make, and APIs, and has a track record of shipping automation solutions that make teams more productive—fast.

Role Overview

We need someone who can hack together solutions quickly and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. You'll be the person who sees a manual process and immediately thinks "I can automate this in 30 minutes." Whether it's connecting our CRM to Slack, building a quick dashboard in Retool, or setting up n8n workflows that save the team hours every week—you're all about shipping value fast and iterating from there.

Responsibilities

• Build quick-and-dirty automations using n8n, Zapier, Make, or whatever tool gets the job done fastest
• Connect systems through APIs and webhooks—even if the documentation is terrible and you have to reverse-engineer it
• Hack together internal tools using Retool, Bubble, or Airtable that solve immediate business problems
• Set up data flows and simple ETL processes that keep our systems in sync
• Build Slack bots, notification systems, and other productivity tools that make the team's life easier
• Experiment with new automation platforms and tools, then teach the team what works
• Take manual processes and turn them into "set it and forget it" automations
• Work directly with team members to understand their pain points and ship solutions within days, not months
• Document your hacks and automations so others can maintain and improve them
• Stay curious about new tools and always be looking for ways to automate more stuff

What You Need to Succeed

• 1-3 years of experience building automations and integrations (formal experience or side projects both count!)
• You've actually built stuff with tools like n8n, Zapier, Make, Power Automate, or similar platforms
• Comfortable working with APIs and webhooks—you can read API docs and figure out how to connect things
• Experience with tools like Retool, Bubble, Airtable, or Google Sheets for building quick solutions
• You understand JSON and can manipulate data as it moves between systems
• Bonus points if you've written some JavaScript or Python to make your automations smarter
• You're scrappy and resourceful—when something breaks, you dig in and fix it yourself
• You care more about shipping solutions that work than writing perfect code
• You can explain technical concepts to non-technical people without being condescending
• You get excited about saving people time and making their work easier

Preferred Qualifications

• You've built personal projects or side hustles using automation tools
• Experience with databases (even if it's just Google Sheets with some fancy formulas)
• You've used GitHub or understand basic version control
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) or you're curious to learn
• You've built integrations for e-commerce, marketing tools, or business systems
• You have opinions about which automation tools are better and why
• You're active in automation communities, Discord servers, or forums
• You can show us cool stuff you've built (even if it was just for fun)
