Hot Cook Position At Grand Traverse Resort And Spa

The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa located in Traverse City, MI has openings for 17 full time temporary hot cooks, $17.46/hr to $19.00/hr ($26.19/hr to $28.50/hr O.T.) from 4/1/2026 to 11/30/2026. This position will cook and prepare food according to recipes. Cooking methods include grilling, sauting, frying, searing, and plating in an efficient and timely manner. Hot cooks will prepare a high volume of a-la-carte dishes using a combination of common kitchen tools including knives, measuring devices, scales, cutting boards, blenders, mixers, ovens, grills, fryers, stoves, and various types of containers and bowls. Hot cooks will receive and examine food products/supplies to ensure food quality meets established standards and specifications. This position will also minimize spoilage by monitoring proper rotation and usage of all food items to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety, abiding by federal and local guidelines. Working conditions include a fast-paced work environment and subject to wet floors. Must be capable of lifting/pushing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to quickly move arms, hands, and fingers to grasp; manipulate, write, type, and assemble objects. The ability to walk; sit; stand for extended periods of time; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The ability to comprehend and follow directions while effectively handling stress and difficult situations/interactions while also remaining focused and professional. Organized with attention to detail. No experience req. Maintain professional appearance and uniform standards based upon the Resort policies and/or standards. The specific days and hours of work will vary depending on scheduling and business volume but will generally be 5 days per week. This position will work one of the following shifts, 6:00 am to 1:00 pm, 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, or 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Split shifts are possible. The business is open 7 days per week, 365 days per year including weekends and holidays. Modifications to the employees' schedule may be made based upon business needs and volume. Earned sick time is accrued by all eligible employees. Employees are paid every two weeks. A single workweek (Thursday to Wednesday) will be used to compute wages due and overtime calculations. The employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law but will make no other deductions unless authorized by the employee; for example, rent and rent deposit deductions Work tools, supplies and equipment will be provided without charge or deposit. Employees may purchase discounted meals in the employee cafeteria. Discounts are available at the Resort amenities (I.E. Food & Beverage, Golf, Spa, Retail, etc). If required by prevailing law the employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees) incurred by the worker. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, exc
