Responsibilities
Takeoff quantity of items from mechanical drawings.
Input takeoff (quantity survey) to prepare accurate and complete estimates.
Obtain scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist in the bid review process and attend turnover meetings, among other tasks.
Conduct job site surveys and meetings with contractors, facility managers, owners, and other stakeholders.
Analyze historical data, help prepare budgets, etc.
Develop thorough and accurate cost estimates for industrial, manufacturing and commercial mechanical systems, and process piping covering labor, materials, and equipment.
Examine project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine project scope and requirements.
Utilize estimating software tools to prepare bids and proposals efficiently and accurately.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to produce complete and competitive estimates.
Review and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals to secure the best value for the project.
Identify potential risks and opportunities to enhance project cost-effectiveness.
Assist in shaping bid strategies and presenting detailed proposals to clients.
Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to align expectations and project goals.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience estimating mechanical projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, process piping, mechanical equipment, manufacturing facilities and industry norms.
Proficient with estimating software (such as Accubid or similar platforms).
Skilled at interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop accurate, competitive bids.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
High attention to detail, ability to manage time effectively, and juggle multiple bids at once.
Familiarity with local codes, industry standards, and best construction practices.
