Now Hiring: Director of Risk Management | Coconut Grove, FL

I’m working with a large, publicly traded, global distribution organization to identify a Director of Risk Management for their corporate headquarters in Coconut Grove, Florida . This is a senior leadership role with broad exposure across insurance, claims, captive programs, and enterprise risk.

The organization operates hundreds of locations across North America with additional international market coverage and offers a collaborative, fast-paced corporate environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and lead the enterprise-wide risk management strategy
• Analyze financial exposure and impact of risk events across corporate and subsidiary operations
• Select, manage, and negotiate with insurance brokers and carriers
• Review and assess insurance policies to ensure appropriate coverage and cost efficiency
• Oversee claims management and settlement strategies , identifying alternative coverage when applicable
• Manage captive insurance programs including workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto
• Develop and maintain risk awareness programs, policies, and loss control initiatives
• Prepare and manage risk management and insurance budgets
• Maintain detailed records of insurance policies and claims
• Prepare and present comprehensive risk assessment reports to internal stakeholders
• Partner with business leaders to help them understand how risk impacts operations
• Review and vet company contracts to identify and mitigate potential risk exposures

Must-Have Qualifications

• 8–10 years of risk management experience , including 5+ years in leadership roles
• Experience in both brokerage and corporate risk management environments
• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with database use and management
• High attention to detail and strong business judgment
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Nice to Have

• Risk Management certification
• Safety and insurance risk management background
• Local South Florida candidates preferred (relocation considered for the right profile)
