Design Engineer | Grandville, MI

Salary Range: $73,000 - $112,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize mechanical designs for manufacturability and performance.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for production.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for product components.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to resolve design issues.
• Conduct design analysis (e.g., DFM, DFA) to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new and modified designs.
• Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for design specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and PDM systems.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, welding) and material selection.
• Expertise in applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and DFM/DFA principles.
• Experience with design validation, prototyping, and testing methodologies.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, or assembly processes.
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
