Court Caseworker

Dallas City Attorney’s Office – Municipal Prosecution

The Dallas City Attorney’s Office is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill a full-time position in the Municipal Prosecution Section. The Municipal Prosecution Section is responsible for the criminal prosecution of Class C misdemeanors and violations of municipal ordinances in the Dallas Municipal Court. Class C misdemeanors include traffic violations, assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and theft, among others.

The court caseworker will assist attorneys by contacting witnesses, gathering information, and reviewing body worn camera videos, photographs, call recordings, and other evidence. The court caseworker will review and prepare complaints from residents and city departments; process subpoenas and notices for officers, witnesses, victims, and other involved parties for upcoming trials and hearings; and provide support to victims and witnesses. The court caseworker will also assist in disseminating information; develop, coordinate, and maintain record keeping and filing systems; assist with discovery requests and preparation of court dockets. Other duties may be assigned.

Applicants must have excellent research, writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Applicants must also be organized, able to work well under pressure, and have excellent communication skills.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED. The preferred candidate will have a knowledge of case management procedures and protocols and an understanding of legal terminology, legal processes, and evidentiary rules.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The city's comprehensive benefits package comes with the position. This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to civil service, pursuant to Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter.
