Job Description
We are hiring for a respected organization seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Category Manager with a strong background in the automotive industry. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives on data-driven decision-making and cross-functional collaboration. The Category Manager will be responsible for overseeing the performance and development of a key product category, driving profitable growth through well-defined initiatives in product strategy, pricing, and vendor management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and execution of category strategies that support company goals and respond to market trends.
- Perform market and competitive analysis to uncover growth opportunities and consumer needs.
- Guide product selection decisions, identify roadblocks, and implement plans to enhance category performance.
- Monitor and analyze sales data and category KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee vendor relationships, including both domestic and international suppliers, to negotiate terms and ensure performance standards are met.
- Support RFQs, contract negotiations, and compliance management efforts.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and global teams to advance sourcing initiatives and special growth projects.
- Develop pricing strategies that optimize profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.
- Mentor and coach junior team members as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in category management, product management, or merchandising, with at least 5 years in the automotive aftermarket sector.
- Prior experience managing chain store relationships is strongly preferred.
- Proven success in developing data-backed growth strategies and executing them across product lines.
- Strong familiarity with the US aftermarket distribution ecosystem.
- Experience with import/export operations is a plus.
- Hands-on automotive repair knowledge is highly valued.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; overall fluency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Prior management or team leadership experience is a plus.
