Our client is a global manufacturing leader in the synthetic materials space that’s seeking an Associate Category Manager – Chemicals to join its North American team in Pittsburgh, PA.
In this hybrid role, you’ll drive strategic category management for chemicals and raw materials used across regional production sites, while supporting selected global sourcing efforts. You’ll shape and implement procurement strategies, negotiate supplier contracts, manage key vendor relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to align category goals with broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies for direct materials procurement
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract development, and performance management
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks to inform sourcing decisions
- Collaborate with teams across operations, technology, and business management
- Maintain procurement documentation, reporting, and pricing forecasts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years’ experience in procurement or category management; chemical sourcing a plus
- Experience with 7-step sourcing methodology
- Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive category strategies
- Strong background in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management
- Skilled in cost analysis, risk mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration
- Strong communication and project management capabilities
