Part-Time Faculty Roles for the 2025–2026 Academic Year
Location: Iowa City, IA
Start Date: August 25, 2025
Training Dates: August 18–22, 2025 (Varied hours, required for all new faculty)

Open Positions for 2025–2026:
Science Educator (Grades 6–12)
- Teach 3 hours/day, 3 days/week
- Courses: Middle School Science, Environmental Science (9–10), Physics (11–12)
- Emphasis on STEAM connections and real-world scientific thinking
- Must hold a valid Iowa teaching license with Science endorsements
Mathematics Educator (Grades 6–12)
- Teach 3 hours/day, 5 mornings/week (approx. 15 hours/week)
- Courses: Middle School Math (Grades 6–8/Pre-Algebra), Algebra I & II, Geometry
- Strong interest in integrating math with STEAM and real-world applications preferred
- Must hold a valid Iowa teaching license with Math endorsements
English Language Arts Educator (Grades 6–12)
- Teach 3 hours/day, 3 days/week
- Includes one semester-long elective for juniors/seniors in areas such as creative writing, world literature, writing for the stage, or composition
- Must hold a valid Iowa teaching license with ELA endorsement(s)
Shared Expectations & Schedule for all Roles:
- Instructional Model: Competency-based with rubrics tied to priority standards
- Curriculum Approach: Project-based learning; interdisciplinary collaboration with arts faculty
- Faculty Meetings: 1–2 per month to align standards and integrate learning
- Breaks:
- Full week off for Thanksgiving and spring break (aligned with University of Iowa calendar)
- J-Term: January 5–30, 2026 (academic faculty not on contract)
- Fall Semester Contract: August 25-December 19, 2025
- Spring Semester Contract: February 2–May 29, 2026
- Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience
- Contract: Semester-based; potential for future growth or longer-term part-time role
